Scorpions Expand Throughout Southeast

by Janet Weber

Scorpions Baseball (Orlando, FL) continues to expand with a deal that includes affiliate teams in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Florida Panhandle. The collective group will represent Scorpions Southeast (SE) but will include youth and high school teams in each respective state or territory. In addition to having the opportunity to represent the “Scorp Nation” from their home state, these players will be eligible to earn an invitation to Jupiter and other high level events.

Kennon McArthur, founder of the former CABA USA will be at the helm of Scorpions SE. Here’s what he says when asked about opportunity and upcoming plans: “having two bids to Jupiter is huge, I’ve been doing this eighteen years now and understand how difficult those bids are to obtain. It not only takes a certain level of team and players; it takes a certain level of professionalism, integrity and respect within our industry.” He goes on to say, “the name Scorpions is synonymous with highly competitive teams and a first class organization. We’ve played against them or have been aware of them for years and I can’t express just how excited I am for this opportunity. Frankly, there are only a select few organizations throughout the country that operate at this level.”

Bob Rikeman, CEO of Scorpions Baseball has been keeping an eye on this market for a while, but until now hadn’t found the right fit. He says, “the amount of high level players coming out of the Southeast now is incredible. Kids in these areas are serious about playing and competing and we feel like we can bring real value and opportunities to them. I was kind of randomly talking to my good friend Larry Thomas (head coach Central AL CC), we’ve been friends for a long time, and I’m always asking if he knows anyone who might be a good fit. Once he introduced me to Kennon I felt like the timing and connection was perfect.”

Demand for high quality baseball training and team opportunities is very strong throughout the country but especially in the Southeast. Major tournament organizations and municipalities are pouring vast resources into the travel sports industry and baseball has proven to be a serious priority for these groups. Atlanta, Birmingham, Nashville, and throughout the Panhandle have all embraced the tournament market and that’s driven by teams and competition. The amount of money and time that families are investing in these experiences is substantial and it’s not something McArthur takes lightly. “From my first team in 2008 to now, our priority has been to make a positive impact on all players, and provide a high level of value for them and their families, both on and off the field.” – KM
